Aaronâs Amphitheater at Lakewood opened in 1989 and, like many venues, has undergone several name changes over the years. "Lakewood" has always remained a constant subtitle among the various endorsers, perhaps because the location is what makes this theater truly fantastic. Nestled among 75 wooded acres in Atlanta, Georgia, the amphitheater is surrounded by lush scenery. Although it may feel as if itâs far from everything, the venue is just 4 miles from downtown Atlanta and 3.5 miles from the Hartsfield Airport. If you are arriving without an automobile, the venue is easily accessible by MARTA, the public transportation system.
The venue, a partially covered, outdoor arena, is known for having some of the best acoustics for a pavilion-adorned amphitheater. Phish and other such artists adore the amphitheater for just this reason.
Prior to your event, you may enjoy tailgating in the free lot. Please check your event details, as lot times vary. As per normal public law, please refrain from drinking alcohol, participating in unruly behavior, and littering.
Food and beverages will be available inside the event area, including non-traditional venue fare and vegetarian options. Guests are welcomed to bring water, however the venue requires all bottles to be either sealed or empty upon entering venue. For guests who prefer to use cash, there are ATMs available on-site not far from the Lakewood and Pryor street entrances.
For those who want to rock-out in serious style, Premium Seating offers VIP box suites and reserved seating as close as the fourth row. The perks of premium seating include in-seat wait service for Box Suites, Premium Parking access, VIP entrance, and access to the venueâs VIP Club.
Lawn chairs may be brought in for select shows and must be low-profile beach chairs no more than 9 inches off the ground. Lawn chairs may also be rented at the venue for $5. Blankets are allowed for most shows, though itâs always best to check ahead. For event information, check out Aaronâs Amphitheaterâs Facebook page. All events are rain or shine.
